The Duomo, the art and the view

The Cathedral of Florence is one of the most iconic buildings of the world and deeply interwoven with the history of the city. On this tour we will climb Brunelleschi's famous 'cupola' -the dome - and talk about the Cathedral itself, we will enter the Baptistery church and the Museum of the Opera, the institution that build the church back in the 14th century and still mantains it today. We will see works by Michelangelo, Donatello, Vasari and of course Arnolfo, the architect of the building and Brunelleschi, the architect of the dome.

About 2 h.

If you want to see the inside of the Cathedral and the underground church of Santa Reparata we can make the tour longer, but often the queue to get into that part of the complex is frustratingly slow.

Additional Infos

IMPORTANT: the tour normally includes the climb up the dome (there is NO ELEVATOR), be aware that it's 463 steps and the passage can be narrow. We also will be HIGH UP.
So if you are claustrophobic or if you have fear of hights we might just do the Baptistery and Museum part. Let me know in advance!

The Museum of the Opera del Duomo is closed on the first Tuesdays of the month.

The lines to get inside the Dome and the Baptistery church can be very long even in low season, whereas the Museum is generally less busy.

NOTE: to climb the dome of the Cathedral needs to be booked in advance and cannot be changed! Your name, surname and date of birth is also necessary for the reservation (I'll take care of it for you).
